We’re working with a well-established organisation within the insurance and financial services sector, looking to hire a Reconciliation Officer to join their Client Accounting team in Cardiff.
The Role:
This is a key position focused on ensuring client money is accurately tracked, controlled, and protected in line with regulatory requirements.
As a Reconciliation Officer, you’ll be responsible for comparing financial records (such as bank accounts and internal ledgers) to ensure everything matches correctly. Where discrepancies arise, you’ll investigate, resolve issues, and ensure accurate reporting
You’ll play an important role in maintaining financial integrity, supporting audits, and ensuring funds held on behalf of clients are managed correctly at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
* Perform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations of bank accounts against internal systems
* Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or mismatches in financial records
* Ensure client funds are safeguarded in line with regulatory and internal requirements
* Work closely with internal teams (finance, operations, client services) to maintain accurate data
* Support internal and external audits, preparing documentation and responding to queries
* Maintain clear and accurate financial records and reporting
* Identify opportunities to improve processes and controls within reconciliation procedures
* Manage workload effectively to meet deadlines and maintain service standards
Skills & Experience:
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy when working with data
* Experience in reconciliation, finance, or accounting roles
* Confident using Excel and financial systems
* Good problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate discrepancies
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
* Excellent communication skills when working with internal teams
* Understanding of client money regulations (desirable)
* AAT / bookkeeping or similar qualifications (advantageous but not essential)
