We have an opportunity for a fixed term Business Support Officer to support the Commercial Services Team, through our journey to reshape how procurement and contract management is carried out at Torbay Council.
There will be a huge variety in terms of duties to be undertaken and knowledge gained from within a forward-thinking and highly supportive team, who provide advice, support and guidance on procurement, contract management and commissioning across the Council and our wholly owned companies.
As an ideal candidate you will have good administrative skills, including arranging meetings, email and diary management, data entry, all underpinned by a sound knowledge of Microsoft applications.
In addition, you will have excellent communication skills, be able to prioritise work, be organised and committed to providing an excellent service in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will benefit from a full training package and the experience of working within a highly supportive and encouraging team. This role is flexible and can accommodate office based or hybrid working.
Initially, the role is being offered on a 12-month fixed term, potentially as a secondment opportunity.
This position is for a fixed term of 12 months from the start date.

Skills
Essential:
* The ICT literacy and skills necessary to produce a range of reports, spreadsheets, performance monitoring and presentations, to standard capable of being presented to others. Including reporting on non-compliance with contracts procedures, reporting on waiver and contracts register entry activity, analysis of supplier and directorate spend, compilation of tender evaluation / moderation data, presentations for training activities and bidder events, contract compliance, supplier KPIs, decarbonisation and social value outcomes.
* High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Ability to organise and accurately record meetings.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills across all tiers of the Council, its wholly owned companies and external organisations.
* Ability to meet deadlines, work with competing demands and determine priorities, including multiple projects and programmes at any one time.
As this post meets the requirements of the Immigration Act 2016 (part 7), the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Knowledge and understanding required to effectively use Microsoft Office applications, including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Knowledge of standard office administrative practices and procedures.
* Basic understanding of the principles of procurement and/or contract management.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
* Experience of producing reports, letters, spreadsheets, presentations and other electronic documents.
* Working on own initiative and within a team.
* Experience of providing support across a multi-functional team.
* GCSE / NVQ Level 2 or equivalent or experience commensurate with the requirements of the post.
* IT qualification at Level 3 or Microsoft Office Specialist or equivalent.
