The WHY
As Finance Manager in a fast-paced eCommerce fashion brand, you’ll be a key part of the financial operations and planning process, ensuring financial accuracy, control, and strategic insight across the business.
With a hands-on approach, you will manage daily transactions, support growth initiatives, and work closely with the Directors and department heads to drive financial performance.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY
The WHAT
Responsible for:
Financial Operations & Systems
* Overseeing day-to-day bookkeeping and financial transactions in Xero, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Reconciling Shopify sales data with Xero, including payment gateways (e.g. Stripe, PayPal, Klarna).
* Managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, payment runs, and supplier management.
* Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
* Monitoring and managing cash flow, highlighting risks or shortfalls early.
Reporting & Analysis
* Preparing monthly management accounts with commentary on performance vs. budget.
* Generating and reviewing KPI dashboards (e.g. gross margin, return rates, customer acquisition cost).
* Analysing distribution trends, marketing spend efficiency, and inventory metrics.
* Assisting with ad hoc financial queries.
Budgeting & Forecasting
* Tracking performance against budget and highlight variances and risks to leadership.
* Forecasting cash requirements, considering seasonality and inventory investments.
Compliance & Year-End
* Preparing VAT returns, payroll journals, and support statutory filings.
* Working with accountants/auditors to deliver clean and timely year-end financials.
* Ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and eCommerce / international taxes.
Process Improvement
* Overseeing bookkeeping support.
* Maintaining existing, and identify and implementing new process efficiencies using Xero, Shopify, and integrated tools (e.g. A2X, Dext, ApprovalMax).
* Championing finance and wider business automation and accuracy as the business scales
Accountable for:
* Accurate Monthly Reporting – Delivering timely and clear monthly financial statements and KPI analysis.
* Cash Flow Management – Ensuring sufficient liquidity through accurate forecasting and proactive planning.
* Regulatory Compliance – Maintaining full compliance with VAT, payroll, and financial reporting requirements.
* Platform Integration Accuracy – Ensuring clean data flow between Shopify and Xero, minimizing manual adjustments.
* Operational Efficiency – Driving improvements in finance workflows, reducing manual tasks and increasing accuracy.
* Strategic Financial Insight – Contributing data-driven insights that support revenue growth, cost control, and scalability.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential Skills & Experience:
o Proven experience in a finance or accounting leadership role (e.g. Finance Manager).
o Strong knowledge of financial reporting, regulatory requirements, and accounting standards.
o Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g. Xero, Sage) and advanced Excel skills.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
o Professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience preferred.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
o Good organisational skills; the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
o Independent but enjoy working in a team and have a flexible approach to working.
This is an office-based role with the possibility of working from home a few days a week.
