Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Legal and Democratic Services to work right at the heart of the Council's most important projects and initiatives. This is a permanent role as a lawyer dealing mainly with commercial/procurement and contracts work as part of the Economy and Project legal team which advises on a wide range of contracts matters. Legal Services performs a vital function at the centre of the local authority providing corporate advice to the Council, advice to members and officers, and ensures the probity and legality of Council's decisions or actions. We aim to be enabling and supportive, professional and objective, but also constructively challenging where necessary. We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer to join our busy Economy and Projects Legal Team. The team deals with a broad range of areas of law and you will have experience of, or demonstrate an aptitude for, advising in one or more of the following areas: Public procurement; IT, construction or commercial contracts; Grant Funding, Joint Venture Agreements or Partnership/multi-agency agreements; Major Projects; Pensions Fund; General Public Law matters.

The successful applicant will need to be a confident communicator with the ability to solve problems in a pragmatic and timely way. You must also be able to work both independently and as part of a professional team, with excellent client care skills and be able to manage conflicting priorities to deadlines.
