Fire Alarm Engineer Location: Field-Based (Various Sites) Salary: £35,000 – £43,000 per annum (Based on 40 hours/week) Hours: Monday to Friday, with optional overtime and on-call rota Job Description: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to join a well-established and growing team. This role focuses on Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM), system repairs, fault-finding, and installations across a range of life safety systems. You’ll work across a variety of environments and sites, delivering high standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. Every day is different, offering variety and challenge. Key Duties: * Service, maintain and install: * Fire alarm systems (BS5839-1 compliant) * Emergency lighting systems * Nurse call and access control systems * Diagnose faults and aim to complete first-time fixes * Complete detailed and accurate service reports * Maintain and inspect additional life safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and AOVs * Conduct regular stock checks and manage van inventory * Follow health & safety procedures and report any risks promptly Requirements: * Experience with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems * FIA training or equivalent certification (BS5839-1 Fundamentals) * Strong understanding of BS5839 (Parts 1 and 6) * Full UK Driving Licence (essential) * Basic IT skills for completing digital reports * Flexible approach to working hours, including participation in an out-of-hours call-out rota * Knowledge of health and safety in the workplace What’s on Offer: * Competitive salary: £35,000 – £43,000 (based on 40 hours/week) * Overtime paid at 1.5x standard rate * Regular earnings boost through travel time and call-out work (most engineers work 45–50 hours/week) * Company van with fuel card * Mobile phone and tablet provided * Full set of tools and test equipment * 22 days annual leave 8 UK bank holidays (30 days total)
