Overall Purpose of the Role:
The Material Planning and Control Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and components to support production activities within a highly regulated defence market. This position is responsible for managing the end-to-end material planning process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring timely procurement to meet production schedules and contractual obligations. As a strategic leader, the Material Planning and Control Manager contributes to operational excellence, supply chain resilience, and compliance with defence industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning and Inventory Management
* Develop and execute material requirement plans aligned with production schedules, project timelines, and business objectives.
* Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure stock levels are optimized to prevent shortages or overstocking.
* Coordinate with production, procurement, and engineering teams to anticipate material needs and address potential bottlenecks.
Process Improvement and Compliance
* Implement and refine planning tools, systems, and processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
* Ensure full compliance with customer requirements, including security protocols and export control requirements.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance material planning and control processes.
Reporting and Analysis
* Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material planning and inventory management, providing regular reports to senior management.
* Conduct root cause analysis on material shortages, delays, or inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions.
* Support financial forecasting and budgeting by providing accurate material cost data.
Experience
* Minimum 3 years in material planning and inventory control

Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
