The Position
Vehicle Paint Sprayer responsibilities include painting damaged vehicles that have been repaired to a high standard and preparing vehicles to be painted by hand or machine. The role involves using the PPG paint system, mixing colours, matching paint by eye or with computer technology, applying primers and finishing coats with spray guns, rubbing down between coats, touching up paintwork, and polishing finished surfaces. Knowledge of blending paintwork is essential. Other tasks include removing masking materials before waxing and polishing, and treating vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals. The role requires painting the entire vehicle within a spray booth, and working in a painting environment.
Responsibilities
* Paint damaged vehicles to a high standard (newly repaired).
* Be conversant in the use of the PPG paint system.
* Mixing of own colours.
* Prepare vehicles to be painted by hand or machine.
* Mix and match paint by eye or using computer technology to ensure correct colour match.
* Apply primer and finishing coats using spray guns; rub down surfaces between coats.
* Touch up paintwork and apply polish to vehicles.
* Knowledge of blending paintwork is essential.
* Remove masking papers before waxing and polishing finished paintwork.
* Treat vehicles with rust-proofing chemicals.
* Paint spraying the entire vehicle.
* Work in a spray booth to ensure paint is confined to specific areas.
* Must be comfortable in a painting environment.
* You must have experience as a Vehicle Paint Sprayer.
Qualifications
* ATA or Level 3 Vehicle Paint Sprayer qualification is advantageous (NVQ Level 3 or IMI Level 3 also valuable).
* Car painting and technical knowledge, with experience in the accident repair and bodyshop industry.
* Must have your own spray guns.
* Continually work to high standards with customer satisfaction in mind.
