Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Vehicle Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and a passion for automotive repair and maintenance. As a Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing issues, performing repairs, and ensuring that vehicles are in optimal working condition. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. MOT TESTER PREFFERED BUT NOT ESSENTIAL.
Day to day duties:
* Undertaking fault diagnosis and repair in a timely manner, focusing on getting it right first time
* Inspecting stock vehicles and ensuring repairs are completed to company preparation standards
* Replacing brakes, tyres, suspension parts and general vehicle maintenance
* Communicating with management and internal customers to ensure faults are understood and repairs are effectively communicated
* The ability to undertake major repairs such as engine replacement is desirable but not essential
* General housekeeping within working area - ensuring equipment is operating correctly and raising concerns to line management
* Completing digital vehicle health check sheets and ensuring admin is kept up to date
* Ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to
* Other ad-hoc duties as require
What you will need –
* Full clean UK driving licence
* Your own tools, we do have tools and equipment here also
* Experience within a similar role, with knowledge and understanding of different makes and models
* Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise own workload
* Good understanding of workshop health and safety
* Self-motivation and the ability to work on your own initiative, but also as part of a team.
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Computer literacy - experience with relevant dealer management systems is beneficial, but full training will be given
Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify mechanical issues
* Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tyre rotations, and brake inspections
* Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment and hand tools
* Repair or replace faulty components including engines, transmissions, and electrical systems
* Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used
* Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations in the workshop
* Collaborate with team members to achieve efficient workflow and high-quality service
Skills
* Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle repair and maintenance
* Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools relevant to automotive work
* Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex issues
* Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy environment
* Good communication skills for interacting with colleagues and customers
