We have an exciting opportunity to join South Staffordshire CAMHS as a CAMHS Practitioner to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Family Practice (SFP) for 4 practitioners. These will be based across our teams in Cannock, Stafford, Lichfield, Tamworth and Burton.
You will complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Systemic Family Practice, working specifically with young people and work 3 days in clinical setting as part of your study. All clinical work is supervised (1- 1) by a service supervisor and also a University supervisor.
As part of your training, you will be expected to attend University of Northampton 2 days per week where they offer a blended approach to learning. This is a one-year fixed-term post (1.0 WTE), with this training year funded by NHSE. After successful completion of the course the fixed term training contract will end however applicants would be encouraged to apply for any vacant posts within the service and will be provided support and advice in job applications.
Main duties of the job
There is an expectation to be able to start with CAMHS for service induction on 12th January 2026 followed by university attendance commencing in January 2026. You must be able to travel to the University of Northampton as part of your induction and throughout your training.
This is a training role within the Children and Young People’s Psychological Therapies Programme (CYP PT). You will work within South Staffordshire CAMHS team (based either in Cannock/Stafford/Lichfield/Burton/Tamworth), providing interventions under supervision whilst undertaking a programme of training for this role. The training post will equip you to provide interventions for children, young people or families using the core principles of CYP PT practice along with evidence based intervention consistent with the course they are attending.
The post holders will be involved in the systemic family therapy clinics across the sites and the training would be a useful step to anyone considering a longer term career as a systemic family therapist (which would involve a further period of study).
