At present, employee timesheets are manually scanned and processed, requiring strong attention to detail and robust data handling capability. The business is currently implementing a new digital timesheet system, which will significantly streamline payroll processes and improve data accuracy.
As automation is introduced, the role will evolve to offer greater involvement in contract billing, reporting, andmercial analysis. This makes it an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their payroll experience and transition into a more data-driven,mercially focused position.
We are particularly interested in candidates with advanced Excel skills, who can manageplex datasets, build reporting tools, and contribute to process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Processing
1. Manage end-to-end payroll on a weekly and monthly basis across multiple contracts
2. Process timesheet data (currently manual/scanned, transitioning to digital systems)
3. Ensure accurate calculation of pay, overtime, bonuses, and statutory deductions
4. Administer PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, and statutory payments
5. Maintain accurate payroll records, including starters, leavers, and changes
6. Ensurepliance with HMRC regulations
7. Support payroll audits and year-end processes
Reporting & Excel Analysis
8. Use advanced Excel to manipulate and analyse payroll and operational data
9. Build and maintainplex reporting schedules and reconciliations
10. Produce KPI and contract-level performance reports
11. Identify trends, discrepancies, and data insights
Process Improvement & Development
12. Support implementation of the new timesheet system
13. Contribute to improving efficiency, accuracy, and controls within payroll
14. Transition into supporting contract billing and financial reporting
15. Assist with billing data validation, preparation, and reconciliation
What you'll need to succeed
16. Proven payroll experience with strong knowledge of UK legislation
17. Advanced Excel capability (plex formulas, data manipulation, reporting)
18. Experience working with large datasets and reconciliations
19. High attention to detail and strong analytical mindset
20. Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
21. Interest in developing towardsmercial reporting, billing, or finance analysis
