An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Pharmacy Technician to join our established pharmacy team, which currently comprises 2 pharmacists and a pharmacy technician.
Main duties of the job
* To undertake medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols and to update patients' medical records / prescribing accordingly.
* To support the achievement of the practice's prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
* To provide advice to GPs, staff, and patients on changes to prescribing to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
* To respond to medication queries from patients and staff professionally, referring to the appropriate GP / pharmacist.
* To assist in the submission of claims for personally administered drugs as required.

Stirchley Medical Practice is based in South East Telford, serving a population of approximately 25,000.
We operate over 2 sites and belong to the South East Telford PCN.
Our large primary care team includes 17 GPs, a sizable nursing team with ANPs, Practice Nurses, and HCAs, 2 Pharmacists, 1 Pharmacy Technician, and social prescribers.

Job responsibilities
* Working alongside a pharmacist to undertake medicines reconciliation according to practice protocols and update patients' medical records / prescribing accordingly.
* Supporting the achievement of the practice's prescribing Quality and Outcomes Framework targets.
* Collaborating with Pharmacists and Prescribing Coordinators to review and develop repeat prescribing protocols / Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
* Providing advice on prescribing changes to GPs, staff, and patients to improve safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
* Proactively managing the safe handling of prescriptions, assessing risks, and recommending improvements.
Responding professionally to medication queries from patients and staff, referring to the appropriate GP / pharmacist.
Assisting in submitting claims for personally administered drugs as needed.
Undertaking medicines reconciliation per practice protocols and updating medical records accordingly.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician.
* Experience in community or primary care pharmacy settings.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong IT skills and attention to detail.
* Experience working in a GP practice or primary care network.
* Understanding of EMIS or similar clinical systems.
* Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures.
