Wood is currently recruiting for an Tank Rigger / Erector with extensive experience in the Oil, Gas and Chemical industry.
Purpose / Role
1. To deliver a high quality, consistent and competent plating construction service in accordance with project / company requirements, standards and procedures.
2. To support overall delivery of company goals and schedule.
3. To ensure all that all workscope is completed in a safe manner ensuring no detrimental impact to personnel, fabric or environment
Prime duties and Responsibilities
4. Slinging materials for moving around inside and outside of tank at ground level
5. Slinging materials for lifting over shell onto roof (floating or fixed)
6. Safe erection, use and dismantling of tank staging
7. Safe erection, use and dismantling of tank jacks
8. Safe use of blocks, shackles, tirfors pull lifts and winches.
9. Loading and unloading wagons
10. Use of rigging/ slinging techniques for handling materials, shell plates, floor plates, roof plates, Roof structures
11. Safe erection of all types of tank floors, shell and roofs.
12. Fairing up of shells to achieve required verticality and roundness as defined by allowable tolerances in EN14015
13. Use of erection aids (shims, carrots, nuts, wedges, keyways etc)
14. Recognition and use of cranes, erection, positioning, capacities and signals.
15. Use of mobile lifting equipment, forklifts, hydraulics.
16. Maintaining and checking own small tools and equipment
17. An understanding of the statutory lifting regulations.
18. Prepare site for rigging and lifting operations
19. Conduct pre-use inspections and maintain equipment
20. Understanding of development of basic lifting plans
21. Working to approved method statement.
22. Safe removal of tank roofs, shell and ancillary components.
23. Work in hazardous areas under ‘permit to work’ system.
24. Working at heights
25. Working in confined spaces.
26. Must stop any work that is considered to be unsafe
27. Must put own safety and those of colleagues first
28. Must start work only after assessing the risks
