Are you a Youth Worker or Community Mentor in Preston looking for a stable, high-impact role within education? We are recruiting for a Pastoral Cover Supervisor to support a thriving secondary school community.
This role is perfect for someone who excels at building rapport with teenagers (Aged 11-16) and can maintain a calm, productive classroom environment during teacher absences.
The Role: Mentoring & Classroom Leadership
Unlike a standard cover role, this position prioritises pastoral care. Your day will be split between classroom management and proactive student support:
* Classroom Supervision: Leading pre-set lessons across the curriculum, ensuring Preston's learners stay engaged and on-task.
* Pastoral Support: Acting as a "First Responder" for students requiring emotional or behavioural regulation.
* Small Group Interventions: Leading workshops on confidence, social skills, or attendance.
* Safeguarding: Working alongside the school's DSL and Heads of Year to ensure every student feels safe and supported.
What You'll Need
* Youth Work Background: Experience in youth clubs, sports coaching, or community outreach is highly valued.
* Confidence: The ability to command the attention of a class of 30 secondary students.
* Local Commitment: A desire to support the diverse community of Preston and the surrounding Fylde areas.
* Qualifications: A Degree or Level 3 in Youth Work/Social Care is preferred. We will also consider "Unqualified Teachers" with significant pastoral experience.
* Resilience: The ability to stay cool under pressure and handle the "highs and lows" of a secondary school day.
