About the role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic person to work in our team of Geomatics Analysts. You will be working as part of a small team processing survey data to support the delivery of our National Elevation Data Programmes, using specialist software and GIS to process and quality control data from our Remote Sensing survey instrumentation including the Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
Responsibilities
* Process and quality control survey data as part of the Geomatics team to support National Elevation Data Programmes.
* Utilise specialist software and GIS to manage data from Remote Sensing instruments including Airborne LIDAR Terrain Mapper.
* Collaborate with National & Area teams to co-deliver monitoring requirements and provide high-quality evidence across the business.
Experience/skills Required
* Relevant degree level qualification in Geography, GIS, Environment or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent experience with an understanding of operational applications.
* Practical experience and broad-ranging GIS skills using ESRI products (ArcGIS Pro or ArcMap) and experience working with large and complex mapping datasets, preferably Airborne LIDAR.
* Experience of processing and quality control procedures on LIDAR datasets and LIDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models would be advantageous.
* Experience in Remote Sensing techniques, analytical and problem-solving skills with good attention to detail, either through work or academic experience.
* Good organisational skills, highly motivated with a professional attitude, and ability to communicate effectively and work unsupervised at times to meet deadlines.

The National Monitoring Survey team is a national team, located at various sites around the country and you can be based anywhere within working proximity to an EA office. You will be expected to travel to the Geomatics team hub base in Bath when required and you will also be expected to come into an EA office to meet the needs of our team charter. The post is full-time, with flexible working patterns considered.
Interviews will take place in-person at our Bath office and will consist of a technical GIS assessment and capability questions.

* Length of contract: 17 months – Up to March 2027

Include an example of analysing or processing a large dataset to a high standard and meeting deadlines (STAR technique).
* Data and Information Management — Demonstrate ability to collect, analyse, interpret, record, manage, develop and share data appropriately for various purposes. Handle and report on large survey datasets to create clear GIS products. Proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS (or similar) and extensive recent experience with complex mapping data, preferably Airborne LiDAR.
* Scientific Knowledge — Applies scientific knowledge to provide sound, science-based evidence to internal and external customers. Provide examples of applying knowledge and remote sensing data to a technical and non-technical audience. STAR technique guidance will be used in assessments.
