Salary: Dependant on experience - FTE £37,760 | Actual: £18,880
Contract type: Permanent, part time, term time only
Hours: 20 hours per week - flexible | to be agreed at interview

We are excited to offer the opportunity for a dynamic and qualified Speech and Language Therapist to join our school.

Your new role

We are looking for exceptional people to work with our exceptional learners. As a Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT), you will take on an advanced role within the integrated multidisciplinary therapy team at Wilds Lodge School. Building on your experience, you will provide high-quality speech and language therapy services to children with complex developmental needs, while actively contributing to the development of the speech and language therapy service and team within a supportive educational and therapeutic environment.

Main duties:

● Champion the role of speech and language therapy within the school, promoting understanding of communication needs among staff, parents, and caregivers.
● Assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidence-based interventions for children and young people with SEMH and SLCN.
● Work collaboratively and communicate complex and sensitive information to a range of stakeholders. Collaborating with other professionals to improve the quality of service.
● Co-ordinate, organise and prioritise your own workload and where appropriate the work of others in the team.
● Maintain up to date evidence-based skills, knowledge and clinical competence.

Essential Requirements:

● A degree in Speech and Language Therapy
● HCPC and RCSLT membership
● Proven ability to independently assess and implement management plans for children with speech and language needs.
● A valid UK driving licence
● Minimum of 2 years' experience as a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, with at least 1 year in a paediatric or special education setting (desirable)
● Experience working with children and young people with Social, Emotional and Behavioural issues (desirable)

About Wilds Lodge

Wilds Lodge School is an independent 38 week specialist boarding and day provision for boys and girls (girls are accepted as day learners only) for learners aged between 5 and 19 with social, emotional and mental health difficulties, set in Empingham, Rutland. All the learners at the school have an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

It was established in 2007 and aims to place an equal emphasis on the educational, social and psychological development of our learners.

The key to the success of the school is a strong ethos, developed by a highly experienced and capable staff, and the strength of the relationships between the staff and the learners.

We are a friendly school where staff are supportive of each other inside and outside of the classroom. We pride ourselves in ensuring all members of staff including our support staff have access to regular training.

All our members of staff attend regular training on child protection; mental health and multi-agency working. All staff access a wide range of training on areas of SEN such as Autism, attachment and ADHD.

Desirable experience/qualifications

●GCSE/O'level or equivalent
● You will hold or be willing to undertake a funded NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
● Experience working with children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (desirable)
● A valid driving licence and business insurance is required
