This role would suit someone with some experience in Buying within Construction that is keen to join a fast growing specialist contractor Title: Assistat Buyer/Buyer Location: Weston-Super-Mare Salary: £30,000 to £40,000 package Sector: Construction - Specialist Contractor Start Date: Immediate/ASAP Assistant Buyer - The Company: Our client is a rapidly expanding and industry leading specialist contractor with offices across the M4 corridor from Cardiff to London. The company can offer the complete package of Design, Installation and Maintenance of unified structured data cabling systems for modern day business connectivity (Cat 5e, 6. 6a, 7). With over 30-years’ experience delivering projects in both the public and private sectors and working with leading Tier 1 main contractors and also direct to client on sectors including: Government Departments, Data Centres, Educational establishments, correctional institutions, health care establishments. Projects are regularly over £1million as part of major construction projects nationwide. Assistant Buyer - The Role: Due to growth and expansion, a fantastic opportunity for a construction Buyer to join the regional commercial team to assist in company wide procurement both direct and indirect, materials and sub-contract. This position will report to the Commercial Manager and work closely with project teams to streamline and increase efficiency in materials and sub-contract procurement. Typical duties & responsibilities: 1. To source suppliers ensuring that our PSL (Preferred Supplier List) meets the needs of the business. 2. To be involved in contract negotiation to ensure that contracts come in at the best possible price. 3. To implement and manage inventory control systems (stock management) to optimise stock levels, minimise waste, and ensure timely availability of materials for projects. 4. To develop and implement procurement planning to meet project requirements. 5. To implement and monitor quality control procedures to ensure that all purchased materials meet the required standards. 6. To maintain strong relationships with suppliers, internal stakeholders (e.g., project managers, engineers) and external vendors to facilitate smooth procurement processes. 7. To manage the procurement budget and ensure all expenditures are within approved limits.
