We’re currently recruiting for a Financial Reporting Manager to join our evolving Finance function. Job Purpose: This role requires a self-starter, highly dynamic individual who will drive improved performance throughout the Financial Reporting and General Ledger team, providing the appropriate financial guidance, control and reporting. You will often be working on multiple complex accounting problems whilst juggling the reporting requirements of month end so time management is a vital skill. You will be hands on and lead the development and improvement of models to allow accurate reporting. You will be fully embedded in the business and will require high level partnering skills with the heads of Investor Relations, Legal and Special Operations Sales (Q) and their respective first line Directors as well as the ability to create productive working relationships with colleagues across the wider Finance, Sales and other functions as necessary. What You’ll Be Doing: Take a leading role in a team that ensures Group and subsidiary financial statements and back end of the annual report are complete, accurate and created in a timely manner and in accordance with IFRS’s. Day to day management of the External Audit process across the business and ownership of the relationship with the key audit contacts. Driving conversations and partnering with key contacts in other functions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment for areas including (but not limited to): VLC team to ensure appropriate capitalization of assets Commercial teams to ensure appropriate revenue recognition of sales and tracking of deposits Operational functions to ensure the completeness and accuracy of lease accounting Lead on complex accounting matters and treatments, including the preparation of technical papers, and present these decisions to the business and the auditors. Drive consistency of reporting across the Group businesses by reviewing, supporting and training colleagues within the reporting function and in other finance functions. Decision making surrounding the optimization of a recently implemented ERP system ensuring the end-product meets the needs of the business. Lead on the continuing development of a Group Accounting Manual. Review of some Balance Sheet account reconciliations with the Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and operation of key financial review controls at period ends including journals posted by the Financial Reporting Accountant. Delegated responsibility for the Senior Manager of Financial Reporting when required. Full ownership of a number of smaller entities within the Group including monthly management accounts preparation and review with the Group Financial Controller. Maintenance of system Segregation of Duties in conjunction with the Internal controls team. Assisting Treasury in the financial reporting of Group Transactions. What We’re Looking For: Essential: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) Significant experience from a similar position in a multinational group or delivering similar financial reporting activity via Big 4 or mid-tier audit firm Considerable previous exposure to General Ledger Accounting principles & techniques, and working to tight deadlines. Recent technical financial reporting experience in a PLC organisation including experience of liaising with the reporting regulatory body, the financial reporting council (FRC) Strong technical capability in Microsoft Office and particular expertise in spreadsheet modelling Ability to work with external auditors Strong analytical skills – includes the ability to spot, assess and address risk, materiality and interdependencies and translate it into impact analysis for the financial reporting and recommendations for improvement. Strong communication skills – presenting financial reporting matters in an understandable way across various forums and levels of the organisation with the right level of detail. Excellent written and oral English communication skills. Adaptable to working in a fast paced, ever-changing environment Striving for continuous improvement and optimisation Ability to be diplomatic and yet persistent in the implementation of accounting policies Behaviours and Skills: Capability of supervising a small team Good communication skills for internal and external contact at all levels Strong commercial acumen Capable of interpreting and applying the complexities of relevant legislation / financial reporting standards. Methodical and process driven mind set with an ability to present and seek feed-back at all levels within the business Capable of working under pressure.
