Overview
This post is an exciting opportunity for a full time Registered Dental Nurse to join a multidisciplinary team and support the speciality to ensure the provision of a high standard of patient care for a fixed term period of six months. This is a great opportunity to develop and expand your skills as a dental nurse to the next level.
Clinics you will assist in include Oral surgery, Skin procedures under local anaesthetic, day surgery theatre list, IV sedation and minor operations, Orthodontics and specialised clinics such as Orthognathic. You will need to be a highly motivated and confident member of the team. Our patients will expect and will receive the highest standards of professional care by all members of the team. You will need to be registered on the GDC Register.
The hours required are: Monday 8.30-5pm; Tuesday 8.30-5pm; Wednesday 8.30-5pm; Thursday 8.30-5pm; Friday 8.30-4.30pm. This is a fixed term contract for six months.
Main Duties
* Cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment and managing cross infection per Trust policy.
* Communicate effectively with patients, carers, relatives and the multidisciplinary team; provide advice and information following procedures or relating to specialist conditions.
* Organise and provide chair-side nursing in orthodontic and oral surgery clinics.
* Assist with procedures under local anaesthetic, IV sedation and general anaesthetic (up to one hour).
* Organise, prepare and assist with specialist clinics (e.g., Orthognathic, Skin lists).
* Prepare medical and orthodontic notes for clinics and obtain investigation results from computerised systems (e.g., MRI and CT scans).
* Obtain orthodontic appliances from the laboratory and record/store patient study models.
* Support personal development and supervise others by maintaining specialist knowledge; act as a professional role model.
* Ensure patient attendance meets expectations with timely procedures and effective communication with relatives, patients and carers.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Essential: Registered Dental Nurse with GDC registration; evidence of ongoing CPD.
* Desirable: Additional qualification in a relevant dental topic; experience in Maxillofacial and Orthodontics; hospital environment experience.
Education and Experience
* Essential: Numerus years chair-side/relevant experience.
* Desirable: Any additional relevant dental qualifications; newly qualified with relevant experience considered.
Need to Know
* UK registration current; DBS disclosure as required; sponsorship rules apply if relevant.
* Location: Watford General Hospital, Watford, WD18 0HB. Salary: £27,857 to £30,570 per year inc. HCA.
* Contract: Secondment / Fixed term six months; Full-time with some flexibility.
