AJ Chambers are working with an established accountancy practice in Reading to recruit a Private Client Tax Assistant Manager.

The successful candidate will manage a portfolio of personal tax clients, including high-net-worth individuals, trusts, business owners, and individuals with complex tax affairs.

The role involves delivering personal tax compliance services, supporting advisory projects, and maintaining strong client relationships while ensuring deadlines and compliance obligations are met.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients.
* Prepare and finalise personal tax returns for a range of individual and trust clients.
* Assist with disclosures and enquiries relating to personal tax filings.
* Liaise with tax authorities and clients regarding personal tax matters.
* Support quarterly digital tax reporting obligations for self-employed individuals and property owners.
* Assist with the preparation and submission of employment-related tax filings.
* Prepare capital gains tax returns relating to residential property transactions.
* Gather and review relevant financial and personal information from internal systems and external sources.
* Support senior colleagues on advisory assignments, including residency matters, capital gains tax planning, inheritance tax reviews, and trust-related matters.
* Monitor workflow and manage responsibilities to ensure deadlines are achieved.
* Keep up to date with developments in personal tax legislation and communicate relevant updates internally.
* Maintain timely and professional communication with clients on all relevant tax matters.


Skills & Experience

We are seeking an individual who is proactive, organised, and keen to develop their technical and professional skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

* Strong numerical, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build client relationships and deliver high-quality service.
* Experience managing a portfolio of personal tax clients.
* Awareness of residency and international personal tax considerations.
* Awareness of trust structures and associated compliance obligations.
* Experience using personal tax software packages. Experience with specialist tax software would be advantageous, although training can be provided.
