Role Summary
Aubay is seeking an experienced Data Solution Architect with a strong background in financial services to join our team. This pivotal role involves shaping the data architecture landscape to meet evolving business needs. You will lead the design of large-scale data solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements within the financial sector.
This role requires onsite presence in Solihull three days a week; this is a non-negotiable requirement. The position is offered as a 6-month contract.
Required Skills and Experience
* 5-6 years of experience in data within financial institutions or regulated environments.
* Proficiency in data modelling techniques at various levels (Enterprise, Conceptual, Logical, Physical).
* Experience designing data architecture patterns such as Data Lakes, Streaming & Analytics, Data Fabric, Data Mesh.
* Knowledge of large-scale data migration projects to distributed database platforms.
* Hands-on experience with big data technologies like Spark (PySpark, SparkScala) and Apache Airflow.
* Expertise in distributed databases and computing environments.
* Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture methodologies, ideally TOGAF.
* Strong leadership skills, including managing technology teams and delivering business objectives.
* Understanding of APIs and data system integration.
* Ability to work across multiple teams and manage several projects.
* Experience evaluating monolithic platforms and designing target architectures.
* TOGAF Practitioner certification or familiarity with Enterprise Architecture frameworks.
* Industry certifications such as DAMA and ITIL are preferred.
* Regulatory experience with BCBS239, GDPR, Open Banking, AI Act.
* Proficiency with data virtualisation platforms like Dremio and Starburst.
* Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
* Proficiency in analytics platforms like SAS and Python.
* Knowledge of storage solutions like EFS, S3, and HDFS.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the design and development of large-scale data solutions aligned with business goals and regulatory standards.
* Provide technical guidance to data teams supporting strategy execution.
* Develop data solutions across domains such as risk, finance, and marketing, ensuring compliance.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to align data architecture with organizational objectives.
* Implement data governance to ensure security, quality, and scalability.
* Evaluate and recommend new technologies to meet evolving business needs.
* Lead design reviews and manage architectural risks in accordance with standards.
* Create application maps representing current, transitional, and future states for stakeholders.
* Apply best practices for data architecture to foster continuous improvement.
