Why this role matters: We act for many of the UK's leading charities, and you will play a key role in enabling them to continue their work by resolving complex property disputes and providing expert guidance to protect and preserve their vital property assets. As winners of the Best Legal Partner to the Legacy Sector and Best Property Partner to the Legacy Sector at the Smee & Ford Legacy Giving Awards 2025, we are looking for a lawyer who will share in our dedication to clients in the legacy sector.
Lead on property litigation matters for charity clients, including lease disputes, rent reviews, boundary issues, possession proceedings, third party rights and more. Provide expert guidance to preserve and protect property assets, working collaboratively within our multi-disciplinary Charities team to optimise income and maximise the value of their resources. Mentor and supervise junior team members and build client relationships, contributing to business development and enhancing our reputation as a go-to adviser for charitable organisations.
Responsibilities
* Lead on property litigation matters for charity clients, including lease disputes, rent reviews, boundary issues, possession proceedings, third party rights and more.
* Provide expert guidance to preserve and protect property assets, working collaboratively within the Charities team to optimise income and maximise the value of resources.
* Mentor and supervise junior team members and build client relationships, contributing to business development and enhancing the firm’s reputation as a go-to adviser for charitable organisations.
Qualifications
* At least 5+ years PQE with strong technical ability across a range of property disputes and able to run matters independently.
* Prior experience of acting for charities and not-for-profit organisations is highly desirable but not a prerequisite; interest in specialising in this area is welcome. Experience in probate litigation is also welcome.
* Strong self-motivation with leadership qualities and enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and building capacity across the team.
* Proven ability to build strong client relationships and expand your network within the industry.
* A collaborative mindset and a passion for innovation and teamwork.
