As part of the Network Team this role assists in delivering core technology services to the Trust. This role has delegated responsibility for key tasks enabling operational continuity and future development of all Trust systems. Awareness of local and national initiatives, standards and best practice as well as industry standards is required. The role supports the Trust Communications and Voice Manager in proactively managing the installation, maintenance, development and support of the Trust’s network infrastructure—including data, voice and video conferencing technologies—in accordance with Trust, industry and national standards. The focus is on customer‑based delivery, secure environments and compliance with Trust policies and the Data Protection Act.
Responsibilities
* Proactive development: work closely with the Network Manager to identify key areas for network development, assessing new technologies, recommending upgrades and implementing solutions to improve performance and security.
* Network security: configure and manage firewalls, enforce access controls and ensure compliance with data protection regulations, identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities.
* Disaster recovery: assist in planning and executing disaster recovery procedures, developing and testing recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
* Real‑time network monitoring: keep helpdesk and technical teams informed of network performance, issues and changes; implement monitoring tools to identify and address faults proactively.
* Network administration: manage configuration, monitoring and maintenance of routers, switches and other critical infrastructure to meet uptime and performance targets.
