Full-time 37.5 hours per week (including weekends on rotation)

Adult Respiratory Care and Rehabilitation Team (ARCARE)

We are seeking a committed, compassionate, and motivated Rehabilitation Support Worker to join our highly specialised Adult Respiratory Care and Rehabilitation Team (ARCARE). This is a fixed-term contract post until 31st of March 2027, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within a dynamic and supportive multi‑disciplinary team.

Working across hospital and community settings in Tower Hamlets, you will play a key role in supporting people living with chronic lung disease, helping them to manage their condition and improve their quality of life. Fluency in Bengali (Sylheti) is desired but not essential.

This job will include an expectation to be available to work on a shift pattern 7 days, covering 8am to 8pm and may include working weekend.

Main duties of the job

As part of the ARCARE team, you will work alongside Physiotherapists, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Respiratory Physiologists, Dietitians, Psychologists, and other Support Workers to deliver high‑quality care. Your responsibilities will include:

·Supporting the delivery of the community virtual ward service.

·Assisting Physiotherapists or Nurses with group and individual exercise and teaching sessions in community venues or patients’ homes.

·Supporting the wider MDT in carrying out treatment plans and non‑clinical tasks.

·Assisting with hospital‑based assessments and home visits.

·Progressing treatment plans within agreed frameworks and maintaining your own caseload once trained.

·Providing administrative support, including completing patient records, booking appointments, and answering calls.

·Ensuring equipment is clean, safe, and well maintained.

·With support and training, you will be expected to do home phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring, spirometry or FENO test, and other point of care testing (capillary blood gas and CRP finger-prick testing).

·This role requires flexibility, and weekend working may be required depending on service needs.

What we’re looking for

• Experience working in a team in healthcare setting

• Ability to build rapport quickly with patients and carers

• Clear and confident communication skills

• Ability to give precise instructions and support patients effectively

• NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent

• Understanding of disability and ageing

• Physically fit to carry out moderate activity throughout the day, may be carrying some weights equipment and walking around street and public spaces for 15-20 minutes or so.

• Confidence using computers and online platforms for virtual sessions
