As a Materials Manager I will provide leadership and management oversight & support to the daily operations of all supply chain functions at Nuffield Health Hospital. I will serve as the key lead between the Central supply chain and the hospital leadership teams, providing effective communication internally, across the hospital and within my department. I will support individual and team development, knowledge, and skills improvement.
The Materials Manager will lead the on‑site supply chain department(s) including inventory management, vendor relationship management, and managing supply expenses. I will also be responsible for implementing best practice and continuous improvement across the Hospitals.
Responsibilities
* Ensure goods and services are purchased to meet hospital requirements, in line with Nuffield Health’s policies and procedures.
* Develop the department with accountability for achieving cost management and the accurate and timely provision of all management information required.
* Ensure effective business planning and development for the department with input into hospital business planning, improvement and development.
* Act as the face of Supply Chain and make myself a key point of contact at site.
* Carry out audits/reviews of the department and its performance are undertaken and recorded. Action taken in a prompt manner to address any issues raised.
* Engage with senior stakeholders at the facilities such as Head of Departments, Hospital Directors, Finance Business Partners, amongst others.
* Drive operational excellence in areas of responsibility and assist in delivering the divisional strategy at a local level.
* Accountability that best practice in inventory management is followed within the department, undertaking, managing and recording planned stock counts in accordance with Nuffield Health Supply Chain policy.
* Cost reduction and efficiency improvements are implemented and supported.
* Accountability of all records relevant to area of responsibility are maintained, managed, and reported accurately and in accordance with required procedures and timescales.
What are we looking for?
You will have demonstrable experience of working within Supply Chain - in a similar role previously. You will have management experience including team leadership within a commercial and finance remit, whilst working to cost control KPIs. Being a strong and effective communicator, you will have an ability to influence and represent the Supplies Function through clear and regular communications to the hospital leadership team. Experience with Materials Management inventory systems will be advantageous.

Nuffield Health Cheltenham Hospital is located in the beautiful area of Cheltenham in Gloucestershire. It has excellent transport links nearby, being very close to the M5 and A417. The hospital has 32 ensuite private bedrooms, 3 theatres and a small ambulatory unit. It also hosts a purpose built close observation unit, 12 consulting rooms with access to treatment rooms, diagnostic services including plain x‑ray, MRI, CT, mammography and ultrasound. We provide a full range of medical and surgical specialities delivered in state‑of‑the‑art clinical facilities, including orthopaedics, cosmetic surgery, spinal services, sports injury, ENT, gynaecology, urology, as well as a rapid access breast clinic.
