The Headlines
We’re excited to be working with this impressive third sector health-tech organisation that is delivering innovative technology solutions to support the research and development of new treatments. Achieving national recognition for their work, and with significant funding behind them, they are continuing to grow their Product Management function and are looking for an additional Product Manager to join the team.
Embedded within the software engineering group, you will apply your understanding and experience of product management techniques to the ongoing development and improvement of the core product. Through engaging with a variety of users and stakeholders, you will contribute to defining the product vision and identify outcomes that will support achieving that vision.
Collaborating closely with the engineering team to ensure that work is prioritised in line with the product vision, you will lead discovery efforts to identify opportunities to improve the product and achieve key outcomes. Naturally curious and inquisitive, you experiment with different approaches to achieve those outcomes.
Our client operates a remote first working arrangement and so applications from all locations within the UK are welcome. There will be times when the team comes together in person (average of once a quarter) and the location for these meetings is typically in the South East of England.
About the Opportunity
As a Product Manager you will set the direction for the elements of the product roadmap you are responsible for. You’ll be collaborating with teams across the organisation to align plans, engage with stakeholders and identify opportunities for improvement. When working closely with the engineering team you’ll partner with them to develop metrics that enable them to understand their goals and tasks in alignment with the strategy - and to demonstrate the impact of their work.
Building relationships across the organisation is essential, facilitating the flow of information between stakeholders and negotiating when appropriate. Given the collaborative nature of the organisation you’re expected to actively contribute to the culture by coaching and supporting colleagues, embracing continuous learning and providing training, advice and mentorship when required.
Using Agile techniques you’ll gain valuable insights through user research activities, and use those insights to inform both the product strategy and the achievable goals that will support delivery of that strategy. You’ll lead on discovery and experimentation, identifying features and solutions that will deliver maximum value to users and participate in the design and specification of desired UX components and behaviours. Finally, you’ll support the engineering team in taking an iterative and flexible approach to support rapid delivery.
About You
You’ll bring a track record in product management, having worked across the end to end product lifecycle, using modern product management and discovery techniques. In addition, you’ll also:
* have contributed to the successful management of a web-based or data-focused digital product.
* bring previous experience of development and testing of UX options with end users.
* demonstrate experience of working closely with engineers, during which you developed a basic understanding of web technologies, covering the full stack.
* be an exceptional communicator, able to communicate complex subject matter succinctly and with clarity.
* actively contribute to a collaborative and supportive team culture, showcasing your ability to build relationships with technical and non technical teams.
* be able to assess and assign priorities, evaluate risks and think creatively to make judgements on appropriate solutions.
* showcase your natural curiosity about topics outside of your usual expertise.
* Experience of working within data-led research environments is ideal but not essential for this position.
