Job summary
Clinical Pharmacist – Werndale Hospital, 15 Hours & Permanent.
Salary: Up to £55,000.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).
This is a part-time role for 15 hours a week covering a flexible shift pattern.
Main duties
* Conduct medication reviews for inpatients and outpatients, identifying interactions, contraindications, and opportunities for medicines optimisation.
* Provide tailored advice to patients on their treatment plans, including side effects, compliance, and lifestyle considerations.
* Support safe prescribing through reconciliation, clinical screening, and dose adjustment.
* Review and authorise prescriptions in line with clinical guidelines, formulary restrictions, and regulatory requirements.
* Promote safe and cost‑effective use of medicines by supporting adherence to local and national policies.
* Collaborate with procurement, stock control, and pharmacy technicians to ensure medicine availability and supply continuity.
* Monitor and report medication incidents, near misses, and adverse drug reactions in line with hospital protocols and MHRA guidance.

Qualifications and Experience
* A masters degree in pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent) or equivalent qualification.
* GPhC registration as a Pharmacist.
* Previous experience in a clinical hospital pharmacy role.
* Strong knowledge of therapeutics, clinical guidelines, and pharmaceutical legislation.
* Excellent communication and clinical decision‑making skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Confident using electronic prescribing and medication administration systems (e.g., EPMA).
Desirable
* Postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification or working towards one (e.g., Clinical Diploma or Independent Prescribing).
* Experience in a specific clinical specialty (e.g., surgery, oncology, cardiology, critical care).
* Experience in private healthcare or working to CQC standards.
* Participation in audit, service evaluation, or quality improvement projects.
* Training or mentorship experience.
