Overview
The following notes apply before you start your application. The role involves working as part of the Campus Support & Security team to provide a welcoming, inclusive university environment and a wide range of security and welfare duties across campus locations.

* The starting salary is £23,061 per annum plus 18% rotating shift allowance and 33% night shift allowance.

Role and Responsibilities
You will patrol high-traffic areas of a large city centre campus, including halls of residences and a remote veterinary teaching campus. You may advise students and staff, respond to emergencies, investigate incidents, gather intelligence, and provide reassurance. Your presence should help maintain a safe, friendly, and secure environment by being proactive, approachable, visible, and attentive. You will have daily contact with the university community and be prepared to handle a wide variety of situations that can change rapidly.
* Patrol designated areas and respond to security and welfare incidents.
* Talk with students and staff to provide advice and assistance as needed.
* Act as a first responder in safety and welfare incidents, while remaining calm and professional.
* Investigate incidents and gather information; provide reassurance to those involved.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual who embraces variety and challenges. A high level of communication skills is essential to build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds, demonstrate diplomacy, and stay calm under pressure. You must be able to act decisively and effectively. Prior experience in a similar role is not essential; the right attitude, commitment to excellent service, and ability to work as part of a team are most important. Training will be provided to develop the specific skills required.
