Job Title: Speech and Language Therapist
Location: Belmont School – Rawtenstall, Lancashire BB4 6RX
Salary: Up to £53,200 FTE (based on experience)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday‑Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent – Term Time only
Essential: Full valid UK driving licence and access to own vehicle
Role Overview
As a Speech and Language Therapist you will work collaboratively with the education team to deliver bespoke assessment and intervention for pupils with developmental trauma, neurodivergence or SEMH needs within the standards provided in the OFG Speech and Language Therapy Ways of Working.
Responsibilities
* Hold and manage a Speech and Language therapy caseload with support from designated clinical supervisor and Lead Clinician.
* Deliver assessments, intervention plans and progress reviews tailored to individual pupils.
* Contribute to staff training, consultation and multidisciplinary meetings as required.
* Maintain a person‑centred, empowering approach and a strong safeguarding culture.
* Use innovative and evidence‑based practices to enhance pupils’ quality of life and outcomes.
Qualifications – Essential
* Recognised Speech & Language Therapy degree.
* HCPC registered and registered with the RCSLT.
* Experience working with individuals presenting with complex and diverse communication profiles.
* Knowledge of neurodiversity and trauma‑informed practice.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary working in a range of settings.
* Experience communicating with families, relatives and carers.
* Interest in developing knowledge and skills in different areas of SaLT practice.
* Good relationship‑building, analytical and judgemental skills.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Good time management and organisational skills.
* Competent in core areas of SaLT practice and clear understanding of RCSLT Communication Standards.
* Knowledge of different SaLT assessment tools, intervention types and formulation of support plans.
* Knowledge of legislation and its implications for clinical practice and professional management.
* Ability to work collaboratively as part of the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Willingness to attend training and work towards further qualifications relevant to the client group.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Understanding of sensory and motor differences that impact communication strengths, differences, traits, difficulties and needs.
* Evidence of understanding the relationship between arousal levels and communication.
