Community Healthcare Support Worker

We have an exciting opportunity to come and join our friendly and supportive team. The Winchester Rural East Community Care Team provides cover to both city and a large rural community within the Winchester district working shifts between the hours of 0800 am and 2000 pm, 7 days a week.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to fill our Band III Health Care Support Worker role to work in our mixed professional team. This will involve caring for patients in their own homes and seeing patients in the wound clinic. You will be committed to working within a generic competency framework that enables you to have the skills to work as a valued member of the team.

Applicants must have or be willing to be working towards an NVQ Level 3. Access to a vehicle and possession of a full driving licence is essential. Community experience is preferred but not essential. All support and training will be given to the right applicant.


Main duties of the job

To provide a supporting role to registered practitioners in the Integrated Community Team in the delivery of nursing and rehabilitative care respecting patients' privacy and dignity at all times.

* Vital Signs: Temp / Pulse / Lying and Standing BP / Respiratory Rate
* Mouth care / Eye care / Toe nails and Finger nails
* Catheter care / Bladder washouts / Stoma care
* Continence re‑assessment
* Venepuncture
* Basic wound care
* Simple bandaging and paste bandaging
* Short stretch bandaging under supervision and after training

To assist in planning, delivering and evaluating programmes of care and rehabilitation prescribed by the registered practitioners, regularly liaising at the beginning and throughout each shift.

Across Hampshire, our community hospitals provide inpatient rehabilitation as a step down from acute care, and our dedicated teams also staff Treetops Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Portsmouth, offering expert, compassionate support.
