Job Title: Junior Project/Cost Accountant Location: Banbury (office-based, full time) Salary: £32,000 £38,000 (depending on experience) We are seeking a motivated Junior Project/Cost Accountant to join a growing finance team within a fast-paced, project-driven agency. This is an exciting opportunity to work across a variety of projects for high-profile clients, often involving complex, multi-currency budgets. The role is based in Banbury and offers a great chance to be part of a supportive, international team. Key Responsibilities: Monitor changes in project budgets and ensure approvals are obtained.
Review budgets before client submission to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Complete accurate reconciliations of event budgets, working closely with Project Managers.
Raise and distribute sales invoices to clients.
Carry out due diligence to minimise bad debt exposure.
Post payments to ledgers, set up urgent supplier and staff expense payments.
Prepare monthly freelancer and staff expense runs.
Review monthly event profit margins, unbilled revenue and reporting.
Prepare bank reconciliations, GL reconciliations and project reporting.
Maintain detailed financial records and produce ad-hoc reports as required.
Skills & Experience: Accounting/Finance degree, professional qualification (ACCA/ACA) or equivalent experience.
Minimum 2 years relevant experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Solid knowledge of accounting principles and functions.
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
Highly organised, methodical and able to manage own workload.
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP & Pivot tables).
Knowledge of VAT, VAT returns and a basic understanding of PSA rules.
