Job Summary
Perinatal Parent Infant Mental Health Service is a trust‑wide multidisciplinary mental health provision working with pregnant and post‑natal women who have moderate to severe mental health difficulties. We are looking for an experienced practitioner in mental health with a strong interest in perinatal mental health to join our well‑established service.
Responsibilities
* Work with pregnant service‑users in the antenatal and post‑natal period presenting with complexity and significant risk.
* Carry out initial assessments and reviews and manage a caseload of women within a clinic setting, including home visiting.
* Collaborate with wider systems such as Mother and Baby Units, Maternity Services, Universal Services, Children’s Social Care and Secondary Mental Health Services.
* Operate within a multi‑disciplinary team of perinatal consultants, psychotherapists, community mental health practitioners, occupational therapists, nursery nurses, specialist pharmacy and team administrators.

Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified RMN
* Experience working in the community as a qualified practitioner.
* Experience managing a caseload with high quality assessments.
* Experience in complex multi‑disciplinary and multi‑agency context.
* Experience undertaking complex mental state, risk and needs assessments and risk management strategies.
Desirable
* Evidence of practice educator/mentor qualification.
Skills
* Promotion of empowerment and education of service users in relation to holistic health.
* Competent in IT and electronic patient records.
* Excellent organisational and clinical skills.
Knowledge
* Evidence based practice and current developments in perinatal mental health.
* Knowledge of mental illness in the perinatal period.
* Understanding of diversity and equality issues and their application.
* Understanding of information‑sharing in child protection and child‑in‑need contexts.
Employment Conditions
* Probationary period applies; internal applicants are exempt.
* High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of basic salary, minimum £4,551, maximum £5,735 (pro rata for part‑time).
Induction
New starters join on the first Monday of each month and undertake a comprehensive induction lasting up to two weeks, including mandatory training and systems training.
Clearances & Registration
* Disclosures to the DBS (Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Exceptions Order 1975).
* Applicants must hold current UK professional registration.
