Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a vibrant occupational therapy department within a centre of excellence for Oncology and Surgery services. The role involves providing occupational therapy to patients following general surgery procedures, as well as to oncology, palliative care and fast‑track patients. The post holder will develop and promote a new service specifically designed for the new Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital and will manage a full caseload independently while developing supervisory, project and service delivery skills.
Responsibilities
* Provide occupational therapy to post‑surgery, oncology, palliative care and fast‑track patients.
* Develop and lead a new occupational therapy service at the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.
* Manage a full caseload independently and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team.
* Support the team leader in expanding and developing the service.
* Engage with other surgery and oncology related occupational therapy teams for professional development (e.g., PRIME, REACT, enhanced supportive care, hospice care).
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills and facilitate efficient discharges from the acute hospital.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualified occupational therapist with experience in oncology and general surgery preferred.
* Ability to work independently and manage a full caseload.
* Strong communication and team‑working abilities.
* Ability to learn non‑clinical, managerial and leadership skills.
* Eligible for full‑time permanent employment under UK Home Office immigration rules (student visa holders must meet graduate visa or skilled worker sponsorship conditions).
