Overview
As a domiciliary audiologist, you can help our most vulnerable patients with their hearing in the comfort of their homes. You will play a crucial role in providing audiological testing services to patients at home, in-store (certain locations) and supporting the NHS. You will be trusted to make autonomous decisions and valued for your professional expertise with full support from our central teams including logistical and clinical support.
Clinical Responsibilities
* Manage a daily schedule of adults with hearing loss.
* Conduct Pure Tone Audiometry, including masking as required.
* Perform tests for non‑organic hearing loss.
* Assess Noise‑Induced Hearing Loss.
* Take aural impressions and select appropriate ear moulds.
* Select, program, and fit appropriate hearing instruments.
* Provide a full, structured, patient‑centric aftercare programme to ensure maximum satisfaction.
* Offer supportive care for individuals with hearing loss.
* Use appropriate outcome measures, both subjective and objective, to ensure hearing instruments provide maximum benefit, and apply evidence‑based practice.
* Operate Real Ear Measurement equipment to validate and verify hearing instrument fittings.
* Commit to lifelong learning, keeping up to date with the latest developments in audiology.
* Maintain test equipment and arrange calibration as required.
* Provide ear care and wax removal where needed (appropriate training provided).
* Follow best practice principles with regard to infection control in the workplace.
Professional Responsibilities
* Register with the HCPC as a Hearing Aid Dispenser (training provided as needed).
* Reflect on own practice with peers management to identify strengths and development needs.
* Be responsible for own professional actions and recognize professional boundaries, seeking advice when appropriate.
* Contribute as part of a clinical team and discuss client needs with others.
* Attend appropriate supervision and training to maintain skills, expand scope of practice, and comply with HCPC CPD requirements.
* Maintain CPD records acceptable to the HCPC.
* Understand principles of clinical governance and apply them to practice in audiology.
* Ensure staff are aware of and comply with Infection Control Policies and Procedures.
* Ensure staff are aware of and comply with Health & Safety and Risk Management Policies and Procedures.
Your Skills & Experience
* Effective and flexible communicator to multiple parties.
* Proficient use of digital systems and attention to detail.
* Confident driver with at least two years of driving experience and ability to locate multiple sites.
* Remain calm under pressure.
* Pragmatic approach to problem‑solving.
* Organised and able to multitask.
* Work within own clinical knowledge and limitations.
