Detailed job description
and main responsibilities
1. The post holder will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance and repair of the Electrical building services installations within the trust in line with current policies and procedures.
2. Undertake unsupervised routine maintenance and minor repair work including planned prevented maintenance work and labouring including electrical shutdowns
The post holder will have a full Driving licence ( vehicle group A ).

Qualifications
Essential criteria
3. Experience of carrying out electrical maintenance work of a semi-skilled nature in building services environment, to an NVQ3 level or equivalent.
4. Full UK Driving Licence (Manual)
Desirable criteria
5. 18th Edition IEE regulations.
6. City and Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing certificate.
7. Certified training in confined space working.
8. City & Guilds 2377 certificate of competence for the inspection and testing of electrical equipment.
Experience
Essential criteria
9. Experience of maintenance engineering trades in a range of settings.
10. Able to work unsupervised in a variety situations which will require interaction with staff from other departments and patients /patients family
11. Able to communicate clearly and accurately both in verbal and written form.
12. Be computer literate and able record data i.e. temperatures /times, meter readings etc in databases

13. Working in Healthcare Environment.
14. Background in building services or construction
15. Working at heights from mobile elevating working platforms
Technical Skills Competencies
Essential criteria
16. Proven ability to demonstrate good problem solving and analytical skills.
17. Be able to plan and organise day to day tasks or activities and reschedule where necessary.
18. To demonstrate multi skilled approach to work
19. Familiar with hand and power tools.
20. Ability to work from drawings without supervision.
Desirable criteria
21. Ability to diagnose and repair faults in basic electrical installations, plant and equipment, to deal with new situations as they arise and pass on knowledge to others.
22. Ability to fulfil a requirement to interpret and work from all instructions, drawings and specifications appropriate to original trade.
23. Have an excellent understanding of the relationship of other Estates staff work to their own.
24. Ability to liaise with clinical and non clinical staff of all levels.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
25. Basic electrical theory
26. Basic electrical fault finding and testing.
27. Safe isolation disconnection and reinstatement of electrical equipment.
28. Good knowledge of general engineering techniques.
29. General knowledge of other trades allied to building services.
Desirable criteria
30. Health & Safety training
31. Understanding of Confined spaces, Lifting & handling, COSHH, Mobile platforms and Asbestos awareness
