As part of our provision of trauma informed care, we are seeking to employ an experienced EMDR Consultant Supervisor who can provide supervision and support to colleagues delivering EMDR therapy within our community services. We want to develop a community of practice, ensure sustainability and help colleagues to become accredited in EMDR.
We want to develop a supportive culture where developing EMDR therapists can feel nurtured and grow their interest and expertise within the trust.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high level of specialist expertise within the application of EMDR treatments, for colleagues working with adults of working age and in older people's services.
To provide clinical supervision to EMDR therapists. Ensuring safe and effective care provision and development of practitioners who have been trained in EMDR and are progressing with the accreditation process.
To ensure compliance of EMDR therapy with the evidence-based, to ensure appropriate governance.
To develop a community of practice through the provision of a special interest group, which will also involve developing and delivering teaching opportunities to colleagues.
To support with service developments in relation to developing robust EMDR pathways, which deliver high quality care, are evaluated appropriately, delivered in line with national and regional guidelines and lead to sustainable care provision.
To utilise research skills for audit and service development and support the clinical lead in meeting the research and audit agenda.

Person specification
Education/ Qualification
Essential criteria
* Fully accredited EMDR therapist with EMDR Europe.
* Masters level qualification in mental health nursing or psychological therapy or equivalent training
* Completed EMDR training to consultant level as accredited by EMDR Europe
* Completed clinical supervision training
Desirable criteria
* EMDR accredited trainer and/or supervisor
* Accredited in another psychological therapy modality
* Leadership training
Experience
Essential criteria
* Demonstrable experience of working within an NHS psychological therapy Service.
* Experience of working to targets to demonstrate clinical outcomes
* A track record of delivering evidence based EMDR therapy for adults with mental health need.
* Has experience of outcome monitoring
* Has experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups
* Has a track record of delivering supervision to EMDR practitioners and other mental health staff
Desirable criteria
* Managed changes within a psychological therapy service
* Has delivered trauma treatment using modalities other than EMDR (e.g., CBT)
* Track record of EMDR clinical leadership
* Experience of teaching EMDR methods and treatments
* Experience of providing consultation to staff on the application of EMDR treatments
* Experience of clinical governance in the delivery of therapy
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* An in-depth knowledge of models of psychopathology
* Knowledge of NICE indicated treatments for trauma
* Has an awareness of motivational aspects of engagement in therapy
* Has knowledge of psychosocial issues that can impact on the application of treatments.
* Has a good knowledge of the evidence base and the relationship to applied treatments
* Knowledge of adult and child safeguarding, along with knowledge of relevant mental health legislation
Desirable criteria
* A sophisticated understanding of research, research ethics and clinical audit
* Publication contribution to therapy literature
Skills and Abilities
Essential criteria
* Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competency framework for EMDR
* Computer literate
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
* Has received training (either formal of through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice
* Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
* Advanced communication skills
* Ability to work within a team and foster good working relationships
* Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively
* Ability to work under pressure
* Regard for others and respect for individual rights of autonomy and confidentiality
* Ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, & in own personal and professional development and in supervision
* The ability and skills to act as an advocate for a new service, to engage and foster good professional relationships with all health professionals in promoting the good integration of this service with the wider health care system
* Good time management and caseload management
* Is able to write clear reports and letters to referrers

* Use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs
