Job Description – Retail Deputy Shop Manager

Hours 15 hours per week (Monday & Tuesday per week)

Salary 12.21 per hour

Location Twyford Shop

Responsible to Shop Manager

To ensure that targets are achieved by maximising sales and minimising costs of the operation of the Shop. To ensure Compliance in all areas of operational activities, drive sales and profitability through the partnership with the Shop Manager.

Key Responsibilities are:

Sales

· To drive profitability by maximising on sales and minimising costs of the operation of the Shop.

· To build Gift Aid income – to motivate all of the volunteers to maximise on opportunities, to ensure that everyone follows the HMRC guidelines on Gift Aid revenue.

· Ensure high standards of Customer Service at all times by yourself and your team of volunteers.

· Actively support any fundraising promotions as directed by Head Office, Area Manager or Shop Manager.

Stock

· Actively encourage the public to donate saleable goods by following company guidelines.

· To achieve stock controls in line with Company Policy and Procedure, to help prevent any financial loss.

· Accurately record all donated stock by using the stores capture and reporting system.

· Maintain stock of New Goods for sale (where applicable).

· Ensure all equipment, fixture and fittings and the fabric of the Shop premises is maintained.

· Ensure premises are clean and tidy at all times and that goods are displayed in an attractive manner.

Staff and Volunteers

· To be clear and concise in all communication with Shop Team, so that they remain well informed of business activity and of their required contribution to targets.

· Provide support and supervision for volunteer team on a regular planned basis.

· Create an organised and pleasant working environment for volunteers.

Administration

· Provide a safe environment that protects staff/volunteers and the public.

· Comply with all Health and Safety regulations as per Age concern Health & Safety Policy.

· To complete all Health & Safety paperwork in a timely manner and in accordance to ACSABE Company policy and Procedure with Shop Manager.

· Report any maintenance or Health & Safety issues in the Shop to Shop Manager/Area Manager.

· Ensure all financial, cash handling and security procedures are adhered to as per the Ageconcern Financial Policy and Procedure.

· Bank according the Retail Cash Handling Policy, ensuring all relevant administration is completed on time and in line with Company Policy and Procedure.

· Ensure that all items that are sold that are electrical are sold in line with Government Guidelines.

· Hold the keys to the Shop, ensure that the premises are secure whenever they are left unattended. To notify the Police, Area Manager and Head Office in the event of a break-in, shop lifting or security incident.

· Notify the Shop Manager/Area Manager in the event of suspected theft or dishonesty by any staff/volunteer member.

Other Responsibilities

· Work closely with colleagues to ensure any concerns in the Shop are resolved quickly and effectively.

· Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time in line with your status.

· Carry out duties with regard to ACSABE Equal Opportunities, Confidentiality and Health & Safety Policies.

· Attending and participating in training when required.

Personal Specification

Essential

· Previous experience in a similar role.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· General working knowledge of Health & Safety.

· Accurate numeracy skills and knowledge of P&L.

· Eye for detail and a flair for fashion and attractive display.

· Ability to work flexible hours and be available for emergency cover.

· Experience of working as part of a team however also confidence to work from own initiative.

Desirable

· Experience of working with volunteers.

· Knowledge/understanding of the issues affecting older people.

· Car driver with access to own vehicle.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: £12.21 per hour
