Job Description: Deputy Manager for Children's Home
Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Manager, a reputable children's home dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in need. The Deputy Manager will work closely with the Home Manager to oversee daily operations, staff management, and ensure the well-being and development of the children under our care.
Responsibilities:
* Assist the Home Manager in the overall management and administration of the children's home.
* Supervise and support a team of care staff, providing leadership, guidance, and training as needed.
* Implement and maintain care plans and safeguarding procedures for all children in accordance with regulatory requirements and best practices.
* Oversee the day-to-day activities of the home, ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
* Conduct regular assessments and reviews of care plans and risk assessments, making adjustments as necessary.
* Collaborate with external agencies, families, and professionals involved in the care of the children.
* Assist in recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff members.
* Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and development activities to enhance team effectiveness and individual skills.
* Contribute to budget planning and ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively.
* Uphold and promote the values and ethos of the organization at all times.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Proven experience working in a residential children's home or similar setting.
* Relevant qualifications in social care, childcare, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or above in Children and Young People).
* Strong understanding of child development, safeguarding procedures, and relevant legislation.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including report writing and record keeping.
* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in challenging situations.
* Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
* A compassionate and patient approach to working with children and young people.
* Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
