General Purpose of Role

The Environmental Compliance Associate is responsible for ensuring the organisation complies with environmental and sustainability standards, and supports H+S activities onsite. This role involves coordinating initiatives, monitoring performance, and fostering a safe and sustainable work environment while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices.


Main Responsibilities

* Support the Director, Technical Services, in environmental initiatives and the ESG program at the Bridgend site.
* Collect, monitor, and report environmental data, including energy, water usage, and emissions.
* Oversee waste data reporting to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
* Maintain waste licenses and permits, ensuring timely renewals and reporting.
* Monitor and report on energy efficiency; implement initiatives to improve energy performance.
* Act as Energy Champion for ESOS and lead energy-saving projects and activities.
* Ensure site compliance with antibiotic guidelines.
* Monitor and support compliance with animal health regulations, including data reporting, audits, and corrective actions.
* Support environmental and sustainability awareness training for employees.


Health and Safety

* Support the UK EHS Manager and Director, Technical Services, in health & safety responsibilities and meeting site and global KPIs, including:
o Operation of the Global Safety Management System (SMS).
o Develop and maintain health and safety information such as posters and guides.
o Maintain the EHS accident database; follow up on incidents; assist in investigations.
o Perform risk assessments and COSHH; support training.
o Support safety projects and participate in global safety initiatives.
* Oversee first aid requirements and lead the First Aid team.
* Conduct fire drills and oversee Fire Marshalls.
* Conduct H&S induction and safety training.
* Oversee DSE assessments for staff.


Other Duties

* Represent EHS functions at meetings with prior approval.
* Assist with other company activities as needed.
* Support continuous improvement in environmental, health, and safety compliance.


Qualifications and Skills

Ideally, hold a Health & Safety qualification/certification (minimum IOSH or equivalent).

* Knowledge of waste management, energy efficiency, environmental data reporting, and relevant licenses.
* Experience with energy monitoring and implementing energy-saving initiatives; familiarity with ESOS.
* Ability to accurately collect, analyze, and report environmental, waste, and safety data.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations, risk assessments, and COSHH.
* Experience in conducting site audits, identifying non-compliance, and implementing corrective actions.
* Experience in safety training and environmental awareness.
* Ability to engage stakeholders, produce reports, and deliver training effectively.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data management systems like Smartsheet.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze root causes and implement solutions.
