About the role
Teachers at this Barnardos Early Learning Centre work in partnership with parents and whānau to encourage children’s curiosity, learning and development. As a teacher you contribute to assessment, planning and implementation of a curriculum to infants, toddlers and young children that reflects current approaches to effective teaching and learning.
Our centre is located in the beautiful sea-side suburb of Eastbourne. We are proud of having a strong community-based focus, which underpins day-to-day learning and teaching taking place in the Centre.
Key responsibilities
* Promote learning opportunities which are inclusive, equitable and culturally responsive.
* Support planning, implementation and evaluation of a learning programme that is responsive to the strengths and interests of children.
* Document children’s learning and take responsibility for children’s profile books and e-portfolio, as agreed with the Centre Manager.
Skills and experience
* Early childhood teaching qualification recognised by the Teaching Council of Aotearoa NZ
* Current Teaching Council Practising Certificate
* Knowledge and understanding of current early childhood education theory and practice.
* The ability to use initiative and a commitment to quality practice standards and the principles of Te Whāriki
* Previous successful experience working as a teacher in an early childhood education team setting.
* Excellent communication, planning and organisational skills.
* Enthusiasm and a strong desire to make a difference to children in their early years while building strong links with their whānau and families.
