The Ophthalmology team is based at our newEye Centre at Pinderfields Hospital in Wakefield and provide specialist careand investigations with services also delivered via our Dewsbury, Pontefractsites and CDC site.

Main duties of the job
Supporting the provision of General Ophthalmology with a subspecialtyinterest in Medical Retina and Uveitis
Delivery of outpatient clinics and day case surgery. Theworkload is in Clinic see about 12 to 14 patients per clinic, Virtual clinic 24patients per clinic and Theatre 7 cases.
Urgent and Emergency Care duties including out-of-hourson-call; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working timeregulations and safe working
On-call duties are currently shared with 8 other colleagueson a 1:8.5 Rota, currently assessed as 0.89 PA.
1.5 Core Supporting Professional Activities will be offeredto the successful candidate for which appropriate objectives will be agreed inaccordance with the Trust Framework and national Terms and Conditions ofService with additional 0.5 PA for extra roles like Lead for service etc.
Examples may include formal teachingresponsibilities or departmental leadership roles like Research lead

Job responsibilities
This postis offered on a full time (10 PA) basis although less than full timeapplications will be considered.
Whilstthe role will be based primarily at our Eye Centre at Pinderfields Hospital inWakefield, we provide services at our other hospital sites; Dewsbury andDistrict Hospital and Pontefract General Infirmary. Most People do work fromtwo sites. The department providesSecretarial support and office accommodation in the Eye Centre. The department has the support ofOptometrists, Orthoptists, Specialist Nurses and Eye Clinic Liaison Officers.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Medical Degree from recognised medical school
* FRCOphth / FRCS or equivalent
* Fellowship in Medical Retina and Uveitis or experience of working in these subspecialties
* Academic Prizes
* Audit or Case Presentations
* Teaching qualification / awards
GMC Registration
* Please state full GMC number
* Full GMC Registration with licence to practise
* Inclusion on the GMC Specialist register or within 6 months of CCT
Management Skills
* Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
* Good time management.
* Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services.
* Possess good organisational and personal management skills
* Evidence of personal contributions to service development
* Awareness of the current UK Healthcare system and the need to develop services in line with current policy
Experience
* Wide experience in management of Medical Retina and Uveitis patients in outpatients, Lasers and theatre.
* Ophthalmology fellowship or equivalent experience in Medical Retina and Uveitis
* Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
