Clinical Nurse Specialist – Multiple Sclerosis
Join our dynamic MS Nursing team at UHCW and make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Multiple Sclerosis, you will promote best practices in the treatment and care of individuals with MS, provide training, advice and education to patients, families, carers and healthcare professionals, and drive service improvements based on patient feedback, audit findings and research evidence. You will also supervise and support colleagues within the MS Team and Neurosciences Day Unit. This is a 12‑month Fixed‑Term Contract.
Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Responsibilities
* Independently perform routine patient assessments using objective measures where appropriate; review data and modify the care plan in conjunction with the person with MS and the MS Team.
* Assess patients with acutely deteriorating symptoms and diagnose relapse in routine circumstances, ensuring timely and appropriate treatment is offered.
* Assist in the delivery of disease‑modifying therapy service, monitoring adherence, efficacy, tolerability and adverse effects within local and national guidelines.
* Request appropriate investigations, interpret results and act within agreed protocols.
* Assist in the delivery of nurse‑led clinics within UHCW and satellite sites within the community.
* Offer advice to patients and carers using the telephone support service.
* Advise patients and carers on managing symptoms, relapses and disease progression using a holistic approach.
