Research Fellow in Health Psychology (Fixed term 14 months)
The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at LBU seeks to appoint a postdoctoral research fellow for a 14‑month fixed term, working within the £1,500,000 NIHR‑funded SuperPenguin project.
Key responsibilities include:
* Carrying out data collection and analysis using qualitative and, to a lesser extent, quantitative methodologies to support the development of SuperPenguin, a digital therapeutic for families with children who stammer.
* Delivering the project’s clinical feasibility studies (Work packages 6 & 7) for parents/carers of children who stammer, in collaboration with four NHS trusts and the partner company SuperPenguin.
* Working closely with Professor Trish Holch, Ben Bolton‑Grant, project team members and external partners to manage and deliver project activities on time and within budget.
* Assessing the usability and acceptability of the SuperPenguin app through qualitative interviews with parents, children and NHS speech and language therapy staff.
* Supporting the design, organization and delivery of research elements, along with managing data collection and analysis processes.
* Preparing high‑quality publications, conference papers and other outputs resulting from the project.
* Liaising with key NHS staff, the clinical trials unit and families who stammer.
Essential qualifications:
* PhD in health psychology or a related health‑related discipline.
* Experience or knowledge of working within health care settings or with health professionals.
* High‑order academic research, communication and presentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Commitment to personal professional development.
