The Opportunity
A well-established main contractor is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of a £30m cut and carve scheme in the heart of Oxford. This is a complex, high-profile project involving significant structural alterations, heritage considerations, and the retention of an existing façade.
You will take full responsibility for the successful planning, coordination, and delivery of the project from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and client satisfaction are maintained throughout.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the project team to deliver the scheme on time, within budget, and to specification
* Manage all aspects of a cut and carve refurbishment, including structural sequencing and temporary works
* Oversee façade retention strategy, ensuring structural integrity and compliance
* Coordinate with heritage consultants, planners, and stakeholders to meet conservation requirements
* Drive programme, manage risk, and resolve technical challenges on a constrained city-centre site
* Ensure strict adherence to health & safety regulations and company procedures
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and local authorities
* Monitor project performance and report regularly to senior management
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering similar cut and carve or heavy refurbishment schemes (£20m+)
* Strong knowledge of heritage projects and façade retention methodologies
* Excellent understanding of construction processes, structural works, and temporary works coordination
* Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics in a busy urban environment
* Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
* Relevant construction qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
* SMSTS, CSCS (Black Card), and First Aid preferred
