The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is looking for a fixed term (12 months) GiRFT Fellow in General Surgery who will be predominantly based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital (RSH), with responsibilities across both hospitals sites to start in October 2026. Getting it Right First Time (GiRFT) is a National Programme hosted by NHS England which focuses on improving the quality of care of patients in England by using data to reduce unwarranted variation and helping providers restore clinical services after the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee in general surgery or a SAS doctor with equivalent experience to work on quality improvement and national policy related to general surgery, directly supervised by the National Clinical Lead for General Surgery at GiRFT. This role is a hybrid role, with 24 hours a week funded by the Getting it Right First Time programme and 24 hours of clinical work funded by Shrewsbury and Telford NHS Hospital Trust. The post‑holder will be linked up with other GiRFT Fellows hosted by other Trusts and will be expected to attend training national days incorporating quality improvement, presentation skills, data analysis and writing papers for publication.
