Offer description

We can offer you the chance to help make the UK a safer place through innovation, working in partnership with government and law enforcement organisations on some of the most challenging data and technology problems out there.

We strongly encourage candidates of all different backgrounds and identities to apply. We are committed to building an inclusive, safe and supportive environment that allows everyone to do their best work. We are happy to support any accessibility or neurodiversity requirements that you may need during the recruitment process.

About us

We’ve been around for about ten years and grown from being a little-known tech start-up to creating our own community at the heart of the thriving and diverse tech and digital ecosystem of Greater Manchester. In the last couple of years, we have expanded our footprint by creating and growing a London base also.

Our name Naimuri is Japanese and simply means…

‘nai’ meaning ‘not’
‘muri’ meaning ‘overburden’

These principles apply to every aspect of an organisation from technology, process and infrastructure, through to people, culture and leadership. This means that we empower our teams to do what they think is the right thing, giving them the skills and confidence to explore new ways of working, and to create a bias-free environment, where all our people feel comfortable collaborating to deliver the finest ideas and solutions in an agile environment.

Our business is focused on 4 cornerstones, which shape and underpin the way in which we go about work and treat each other. These are: Wellbeing, Empowerment, Perpetual Edge and Delivery.

People and culture are at the heart of Naimuri, so that collectively, we can realise our mission of ‘making the UK a safer place to be’.

About the role

As part of our London based software delivery team you will be working on applications and systems used by one of our largest customers. This may involve upgrading or re-platforming an existing application, developing a new one from scratch, or working to create a solution that will become the backbone of the customer’s software for years to come. This may involve:

1. The opportunity to work from the customer’s London offices, working closely with their internal teams
2. Designing, implementing, integrating, documenting, and maintaining software solutions.
3. Working with Product Owners and end users, delivering incremental value using Agile ways of working.
4. Full stack development using Front End technologies, such as React, developing APIs using Back End technologies such as Java, RabbitMQ,, and using a variety of different databases (e.g. Postgres and ElasticSearch).
5. Working in a DevOps way to help manage and maintain multiple environments using a bespoke platform (based around GitLab and Kubernetes).
6. Building and adding to automated delivery pipelines (using GitLab).
7. Taking accountability for quality and security as a team, including pair programming and participating in code reviews.

So, you’ll develop new components, you’ll fix bugs, you’ll learn new ways of doing things and we will learn from you. You’ll have the freedom and autonomy to do your best work, with plenty of support along the way.

Here are some things Naimuri have worked on recently that might give you a better sense of what you’ll be doing day to day:

8. Improving systems integration performance, using Apache Ni-Fi, by balancing scaling and flow improvements through chunking
9. Implementing AWS Security Control Policies to manage global access privileges.
10. Validating and Converting data into a common data format using Avro Schemas and JOLT
11. Designing a proxy in-front of our Kubernetes cluster egress to allowlist traffic and mitigate any security risks
12. Implementing Access/Role Based Access Control in ElasticSearch
13. Writing React UI using an ATDD approach with Cypress
14. Improving docker-compose config and README instructions to improve Developer Experience
15. Writing CI/CD pipelines

About you

We’re looking for someone with experience of developing software solutions. You should have some opinions on:

16. What good code looks like (front end or back end)
17. How best to deploy software
18. How to operate systems on top of kubernetes infrastructure
19. How to spot smells in the code

You’ll need solid fundamentals in software development, systems integration, problem solving, and teamwork.

You might have a degree, it might be in a related field. You might not, and you can demonstrate how you’ve trodden the path for yourself.

If successful, you need to undergo a security clearance process - This can be discussed and explained further at interview.

Pay and benefits

Naimuri pays competitively within the industry based on your role's base location rates. The salary for this position is dependent upon your experience. We assess seniority relative to the team at Naimuri during the interviewing process.

A full time working week is 37.5 hours and you have flexibility over when you give that time. We also offer part-time working which can be discussed during the recruitment process.

Our core hours are 10:00am - 3:00pm and our office hours are between 7:30 and 18:00 Monday to Friday. Most teams have agreed ‘in office’ days to enable collaboration, and you may also be required to attend a customer site (London) or on occasion to travel to our Naimuri office in Greater Manchester.

Benefits include:

20. Flexible/Hybrid working options
21. A company performance related bonus
22. Pension matched 1.5x up to 10.5%
23. AXA group 1 medical cover
24. Personal training budget
25. Holiday buy-back scheme
26. A flexible benefits scheme

Recruitment Process

We want to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident when interviewing with us. To help you prepare, our recruitment team will discuss the process in more detail with you when you apply.

We are happy to support any accessibility or neurodiversity requirements.
