We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, patient-focussed pharmacy technician to join our clinical pharmacy team at Raigmore Hospital. This post will be rotational and work across our Medical and Surgery, Women & Children teams. This includes rotations in medical and surgical admissions and high dependency areas, renal, respiratory, gastroenterology, cardiology and paediatrics. The range of specialties offers a diverse experience, whilst at the same time gaining specialist knowledge and skills. In this role further development across a range of specialist areas will be available including opportunities to be involved in quality and service improvement projects. Supervison, training and support will be available from the lead pharmacy technician and lead pharmacists within the areas. In addition to your clinical rotation you will also maintain your accuracy checking practice by contributing to our dispensary rotation.
The successful candidate will assist with the training and development of pre-registration pharmacy technicians (PTPTs), pharmacy support staff, pharmacy students, and trainee pharmacists. Clinical pharmacy technicians are embedded within the team and we are also looking at opportunities for pharmacy support workers to play a valuable role within their overall skill set. The team are also involved in education and training of the wider MDT, including medical students and medical/nursing staff.
Candidates should be good communicators; enthusiastic; self-motivated; a strong team player; curious and excited to learn; and be able to problem solve and prioritise.

As well as developing the roles of pharmacy support staff, we have implemented HEPMA across most of our hospital sites in NHS Highland, and have installed robotics in both our dispensary and distribution services, improving patient safety and efficiency.
You must be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with relevant post qualification knowledge and experience including an Accredited Dispensary Accuracy Checking Qualification.
You will be required to participate in departmental rotas for weekend working and public holidays to support pharmacy service provision across 7 days.
