Superintendent – Norfolk, NE
This is a salaried, exempt-level role
About the Role
As an Elevator Superintendent at ADM, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our grain elevator in Norfolk, NE. You will lead a team of hourly employees across grain loading and unloading, sampling, transferring, blending, and storage operations, all while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and compliant workplace. You will also drive continuous improvement initiatives to help us meet our operational objectives as efficiently as possible.
What You'll Do
1. Ensure the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations, and demonstrate safety leadership by actively participating in all safety processes with a goal of zero injuries
2. Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and FSMA requirements across daily plant operations, including environmental compliance, food safety, quality control, production, and cost optimization
3. Recognize environmental, safety, and GMP hazards and take prompt action to eliminate risks to employee safety, product quality, and environmental integrity
4. Address employee concerns while maintaining open communication and a positive team environment
5. Work alongside employees to develop high levels of job proficiency, and analyze maintenance performance to improve efficiencies
6. Provide positive reinforcement when employees demonstrate strong results and safe behaviors
7. Maintain discipline and document unusual or unacceptable behaviors in accordance with company policy
8. Actively engage in the development and training of hourly employees to build a skilled, capable team
9. Apply mechanical and electrical expertise to troubleshoot and maintain production systems, utilities, buildings, and grounds
10. Stay current with emerging industry regulations and codes relevant to systems design and operation
11. Ensure corporate policies and standards are followed in the execution of daily activities
12. Lead and analyze preventive maintenance schedules, inspections, and repairs to minimize downtime
13. Maintain thorough documentation and proactively identify cost-saving opportunities
14. Conduct layered audits, including safety and GMP audits
15. Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and lockout/tagout (LO/TO/TO) procedures for your area
16. Collaborate effectively with ADM locations across the organization, including Commercial teams and the neighboring Corn Processing site
17. Work overtime and weekends as needed to support operational demands
Position Requirements
18. A high school diploma or GED, along with hands-on experience in grain elevator or related agricultural/industrial operations
19. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field or a technical certification in a related discipline preferred
20. A proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate a team, including experience coaching employees and building a culture of safety and accountability
21. Prior experience in a supervisory or superintendent role in an elevator, processing, manufacturing, or similar environment
22. Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a mechanical or electrical environment
23. Familiarity with safety compliance frameworks, including Job Hazard Analysis and OSHA regulations
24. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write reports and clearly train others
25. Proficiency with standard computer tools such as Microsoft Office and email
26. Experience with GMP, HACCP, FSMA, or other food safety regulatory frameworks nice-to-have
Work Environment
This role involves both indoor and outdoor work year-round and may include exposure to dusty, noisy, or otherwise demanding conditions. You should be comfortable with the following physical requirements of the role:
27. Lifting and transporting materials and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 100 lbs occasionally
28. Prolonged standing and frequent movement including bending, stooping, walking, and reaching
29. Operating manual and electrically powered tools and electrical test equipment
30. Moving throughout the facility, including climbing stairs and ladders in all buildings and working at heights

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
The pay range for this position is expected to be between:
$92,800.00 - $173,500.00
Salaried Incentive Plan
The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus and a long-term incentive plan
