Position: General Maintenance Assistant - Mechanical (Shift work)
University Hospitals Dorset is seeking to recruit a General Maintenance Assistant - Mechanical to join their Estates team at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
The role involves working as part of a team responsible for the hospital's mechanical and plumbing systems, covering a 7-day schedule. The main duties include:
1. Performing day-to-day repairs and first-line responses to mechanical and plumbing equipment issues.
2. Operating and maintaining mechanical and plumbing systems, including unblocking drains, servicing thermostatic mixer valves, monitoring water temperatures, and managing ventilation and air conditioning systems.
3. Ensuring all tasks are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with legislation and standards.
Applicants must have a full driving license (vehicle group A). Participation in a shift rota and out-of-hours on-call duties are required.

The successful candidate should demonstrate a good understanding of modern mechanical and plumbing maintenance activities, both reactive and planned, and be willing to learn and work as part of a team.
Note: This role involves participation in the boiler house shift rota and out-of-hours on-call duties.
