About the Role
Park Rangers have a wide and varied job role, including maintaining public areas through grounds work and repairs, installing site infrastructure, improving and maintaining a variety of habitats, conducting surveys, and delivering an annual events programme and educational sessions for local schools both on and off site. You will collaborate with a range of stakeholders to resolve health and safety issues while enhancing green spaces by engaging the local community. You will help manage and supervise activities of contractors on site, and actively promote Medway’s parks and open spaces in alignment with Norse Group values. Capstone Country Park covers 114 hectares and includes woodland, meadow/grassland, and amenity parkland; it is Green Flag Award accredited.
Responsibilities
* Maintain public areas within the site through grounds work and repairs
* Install and maintain site infrastructure
* Conserve and improve habitats; conduct surveys
* Plan and deliver an annual events programme
* Lead educational sessions for local schools, on and off site
* Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve health and safety issues
* Engage local communities to enhance green spaces
* Manage and supervise contractors on site
* Promote Norse Group values and Medway’s parks and open spaces
What we are looking for
* A professional qualification in countryside management (or similar) or demonstrable relevant experience
* Knowledge of relevant legislation and health & safety guidelines, including environmental management
* Experience leading, managing, and supervising activities, events, educational sessions, and working with volunteer groups
* Excellent communication skills and confidence when dealing with the public
* Good IT skills
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
* Experience with landscaping power tools; chainsaw experience and license is an advantage
* Ability to use initiative and work as part of a team
* Full manual driving licence
