What will you be doing?
You will manage all aspects of the Sales Ledger, including accurate invoicing, timely cash allocation, and effective credit control to support cash flow. You will work closely with Engineering and Operations teams to ensure clarity and compliance in related processes, while proactively identifying and recommending process improvements. The role involves preparing and delivering timely reports on Sales Ledger and Credit Control to management, supporting decision-making. You’ll also have opportunities for learning and development, with the expectation to build skills that enable you to support and deputise for the Financial Accountant.
You will:
* Calculate client fees and issue accurate invoices in line with contract terms.
* Reconcile client accounts, allocate payments, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
* Provide VAT analysis on sales invoices.
* Monitor monthly controls, including unbilled costs and WIP reports.
* Manage debtor information and chase overdue accounts.
* Produce cost reports for management and clients; support audits as required.
* Maintain internal code manual and drive process improvements.
* Liaise with Engineering and Operations on invoicing and cost issues.
Once settled in your role, you will also:
* Assist with cash book, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and project setup.
* Support Financial Accountant with monthly reporting and ad hoc tasks.
* Supervise apprentices (currently 2), ensuring accuracy and compliance.
* Conduct regular check-ins, provide feedback, and monitor performance.
What You’ll Need:
* Strong numerical ability with excellent communication skills.
* Detail-orientation with a focus on accuracy and process integrity.
* Strong problem-solving and prioritisation skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence with data-driven tasks.
* Proven experience in credit control and working with accounting systems.
* Understanding of varying contract terms and their financial impact.
* Ability to coach, and mentor team members effectively, or willingness to grow in that area.
* AAT (or equivalent)
Basic Salary: £33,000 - £36,000
